About Me

My name is Alexa Piraino, an educator of young minds and an enthusiast of continued education both in and outside the classroom. Not only am I a dedicated educator, but also a doting wife and mother of soon-to-be three young children; my inspirations for everything I do. Teaching has also allowed me to open my eyes to the beauty and innocence of a child, which ultimately influences my my overall philosophy of teaching both in and outside the classroom.

Student J (before growth)- 6th grade in the quarter 4.

This student is showing tremendous progress in his work ethic and determination to improve his reading comprehension and writing skills. From the end of last year (including his 2nd semester in general, to know in the 1st quarter of his 7th grade year, I am seeing the positive progression of his overall academic growth.

What is presented in the URL is his 4th quarter of his 6th grade year.

8th Grade Syllabus

The 8th grade syllabus also intertwines my desire and love of teaching accompanied by my passion for differentiated genres of literature/writing.

Sample 6th grade Unit Assessment

The 6th grade Literature Exam encompassed many varying aspects of their learning experience in the classroom. Students had quotation analysis identification questions, figurative language inquiry questions, comprehensive short answer questions along with grammatical inquiry using contextual evidence.

Outsiders Comprehension Assessment (8th) Example

The assessments I give can range from multiple choice, short answer responses, to paragraph analysis of given quotes following a specific objective/standard. Here is one small example of one of these assessments for the novel, Outsiders.
